Kathryn “Kitty” Reichenbach

October 23, 1958 – July 21, 2016

In March of 2014 Kitty and her family noticed that she was frequently forgetting simple dates and tasks that were usually day-to-day common occurrences for her. She was also pausing during conversations for no reason and trying to repeat and recall what was being said. Not getting too alarmed and after a couple of months and two Dr. appointments with her primary general physicians, they considered this to be stress related and suggested some rest and relaxation. In June of 2014 a family vacation was planned to St. Thomas and St. Maarten to relax and re-evaluate what the doctors said and how to approach a more-easy lifestyle. Three weeks later, on July 2nd 2014 the world as they knew it would change forever as Kitty collapsed at work and would never return to her office at AbbVie again. Her husband Ralph left his job to be her full-time caregiver but sadly after a 25-month battle, Kitty succumbed to the Glioblastoma Stage IV Brain Cancer that they knew was never going away.

The Reichenbach family is determined to do whatever they can to help the families how are touched by this disease not only survive but thrive through this most devastating time of their lives. Organizations in the Chicagoland area such as BrainUp and the Michael Matters Foundation are dedicated to bringing awareness to brain cancer, to help family members know that they are not alone and to raise funds to assist families in need and to help fund the research teams in our area.
